High up to Andechs Monastery

The Andechs Monastery is enthroned on a hill, visible from afar – a place of pilgrimage, brewery and popular excursion destination all in one. The cycle tour there leads through one of the most charming landscapes in the Munich area: the Fünf-Seen-Land (Five Lakes Region).

The route runs westwards, first along Lake Starnberg, then through undulating countryside towards Lake Ammersee. The route can be challenging: several climbs alternate with sweeping descents. But once you reach the top, the view is your reward.

Tegernsee tour: explore the Alpine foothills by bike

Lake Tegernsee is just under 50 kilometers south of Munich – a distance that ambitious cyclists can easily cover in one day. The route is worthwhile not so much as a sporting challenge, but above all because of the landscape: meadows, forests and constant views of the approaching mountains make the ride entertaining. One of the cleanest lakes in Bavaria awaits you there – the water is actually drinking quality!

On the Isar cycle path to Bad Tölz

Bad Tölz combines small-town charm with an alpine backdrop – historic market street, spa gardens and all around mountains, forests and the turquoise waters of the Isar. But the way there is at least as attractive as the destination.

The route along the Isar is largely flat, ideal for relaxed gliding with a view of the water and gravel banks invite you to take a break. Once you have arrived, you can take a stroll through the old town or a detour to the nearby Blombergbahn. And if you are still too tired: the Bayerische Oberlandbahn takes both riders and bikes.

A detour to Buchenhain

The Isar runs through Munich, its riverside paths one of the city’s most popular cycle routes. For almost 20 kilometers, you follow the Isar as far as Buchenhain, where the main river and the Isarwehrkanal merge again. The route mostly runs directly along the banks, past gravel banks and under old trees without any traffic noise. Shortly before the destination, the path climbs gently and leads into a mixed forest. From a hill, the view opens up over the Isar valley – a surprisingly natural panorama, barely more than an hour from the city center.

A Trip to the Blindham Mountain Wildlife Park

The Blindham Mountain Animal Park extends over 25 hectares – created by a farmer who turned his family farm into an adventure farm.
Visitors can encounter red deer in the enclosure, free-range goats in the meadow and wild boar. In addition to native wild animals, the park is also home to old breeds of domestic animals that are threatened with extinction. There are hands-on stations and play areas for younger visitors.
